Docomo eye controlles earphones

The recent CTIA 2010 conference unveiled some of the amazing gadgets and one of them was eye controlled earphones from NTT Docomo. These interesting earphones are capable of detecting the eye movements with the help of electrodes. Our eyeballs have potential positives at the cones and the negatives at the retina.

When our eyes look forward they carry a neutral charge, while looking at the left, the left side carries the positive charge and right side carries the negative charge. Similarly while looking towards right, the right side carries the positive charge and the left side, negative one. Thus with this mechanism it can be stated that the charges around the eyes changes along with the eye movement and this signal is then captured by the electrode called Electroculogram( EOG).

With the help of these interesting earphones it can be said that moving the eyes from left to right very quickly will function like pushing play or pause whereas 2 quick shifts towards the right side will function as advance track forward and moving the eyes in a circular motion will help to adjust the volume.  So just get ready to interestingly control your earphones with your eyes.
