Sharp has recently launched its latest digital TV Tuner called VA1N2WF2121 which is the smallest in the world. Sharp VA1N2WF2121 measures 30 X 29.6 X 5mm in size and is 70 % smaller and 50% thinner as compared to its previous model. It was possible to keep the size of the device small because the number of parts used in manufacturing was successfully reduced from 300 to just 80 pieces which was surely very small in most of the cases.
The Sharp VA1N2WF2121 is compatible with DVB-T, ISDB-T/TB, ATSC, CTTB and DVB-T/T2 so that the device can be used in various markets including Japan, China, Europe and America. The antenna would have been even smaller with appropriate modifications could be used on mobile devices which Sharp is certainly working in trying to implement this tuner on notebooks, laptops and tablets as well. The device can be used on other devices like TV cards or their own TVs which are getting thinner.
