iLane for safe driving

by Gadgets Daily on March 27, 2010

iLane

With an entire floor dedicated at the CTIA to apps and gadgets available for drivers to use their mobiles while driving, clearly there is a lot of thought going on in this area. Ranging from iPhone applications where some software will stop you from texting beyond certain speed limit to other that will read out your messages loud enough, a non-Apple product iLane truly gives you a command over your smartphones by voice control.

The device not only allows you to open, read and compose emails using Voice commands but also allows you to dial and receive phone calls simply by saying out the name of the person loud. What’s more than the driver being able to have the device read out the calendar events loud. This secure device can work with most Blackberry smartphones via Bluetooth at a secured connection of 256 BIT AES Encryption so your secrets don’t leak outside the car.

DriveNTalk KlaT 7 – mobile device to improve driving

by Gadgets Daily on March 27, 2010

DriveNTalk

Competing with the iLane, device created for enabling mobile users to drive safely, is a new device called the DriveNTalk KlaT 7 created by Enustech. This solar powered device holds true to its name in letting mobile users drive without being distracted by answering phones or reading and typing messages.

The voice to text service on the device uses Voice command for controlling so that you don’t have to touch anything and your eyes are always on the road. The device also allows use of an optional service of sending SMS, emails or SNS through voice control.

However, the demonstration of this device at CTIA was quite disappointing as the lady in charge of the booth was not able to get it working even though they had a car setup at the cubicle, which is more than what the other companies offered at their booths. No detailed information regarding this device is available as yet, but let’s hope to see it in the market soon.
